Biography Donnie Mather recently completed work on KADDISH (or The Key in the Window) directed by Kim Weild. This multi-media memory play is based on the poetry of Allen Ginsberg and was presented at HERE as part of the New York Fringe Festival. Other collaborations with Kim Weild include FETE DE LA NUIT by Charles L Mee (NY Premiere) and the title role in UNCLE VANYA. Donnie is a graduate of the the Theatre and Dance program at Western Kentucky University. In 1995, Donnie began his longtime association with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company training in Suzuki and Viewpoints Training for the Actor. Shortly after moving to New York City, Donnie performed Off-Broadway in Charles L. Mee Jr.’s TROJAN WOMEN A LOVE STORY directed by Tina Landau for En Garde Arts. Donnie spent seven years as an Associate Artist of SITI Company. During that time, he performed in SEVEN DEADLY SINS and the world premiere of LILITH both at New York City Opera at Lincoln Center as well as the world premiere of NICHOLAS & ALEXANDRA at Los Angeles Opera alongside Placido Domingo. Also with SITI Company, Donnie played Banquo in MACBETH at Baton Rouge’s Swine Palace Theatre directed by SITI Company member Leon Ingulsrud. Also with Mr. Ingulsrud, Donnie created A SHOW OF FORCE which has toured internationally. Donnie has spent three seasons at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, ANTONY & CLEOPATRA, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, and TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA working with artists such as Robert Cuccioli, Tamara Tunie and Nicholas Kepros. Donnie has worked with other New York companies such as the Rude Mechanicals, International WOW Company, and Theatre Askew as well as a variety of New York venues such as P.S. 122, HERE, Angel Orensanz Theatre, Riverside Amphitheatre, Judson Church, and many others. Donnie’s first solo show was a co-creation with director and choreographer Andrew T. Carter entitled HOW ARE YOU? which traveled to the Toronto International Fringe Festival as well as the American Living Room Series at HERE in New York. For over a dozen years, Donnie has been a frequent guest instructor of the Viewpoints and Suzuki Method for Actor Training at New York University, Columbia University, the New School, University of Houston, Louisiana State University, Bard College, Fordham University, the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, University of Puerto Rico, the Manizales Theatre Festival, and the Iberoamericano Theatre Festival of Bogotá, Colombia. Currently, Donnie is on faculty at the Atlantic Theatre Conservatory. Projects in development include RISING A DANCE PLAY, a dance/theatre piece based on the music of Yoko Ono.
